Julius Larson, 83

Roseau - Julius Larson, 83, died Saturday, May 22, 1999 at the Roseau Area Hospital at Roseau.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 27 at 10 a.m. at Concordia Lutheran Church in Roseau. Interment will be in Concordia Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from noon until 8 p.m. with a 8 p.m. devotional service today (Wednesday, May 26) at Helgeson Funeral Chapel in Roseau. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.

Julius Okley Larson was born on November 25, 1915 in Ross, the son of Oscar and Ingri (Lee) Larson. When Julius was a young child, his family moved and homesteaded in Oyen, Alberta, Canada. They remained there for several years and then returned to Ross.

In 1937, Julius purchased 160 acres of land near Ross and farmed there.

On April 30, 1950, he was united in marriage to Edith Rosenkrans in Roseau. In 1959, they couple sold their livestock, and Julius attended Mayville Teacher's College for two years. He then taught in rural schools in Montana for eight years while earning a degree from Bemidji State University. Before retiring in 1981, the couple spent 12 years in Red Lake Falls. Julius and Edith moved to Roseau in 1994.

He enjoyed reading and traveling.

Julius is survived by his wife, Edith of Roseau; one son, James (Sharon) Larson of Monticello; two daughters, Holly (Allen) Steinhauer of Thief River Falls and Sheldon (Diane) Larson of Roseau; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Margaret Vatnsdal of Badger.
