George K. Larson, 86

St. Cloud - George K. Larson, 86, died on Tuesday, February 3, 1998 at a hospital in St. Cloud.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, February 7 at 10 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls with Reverend John Wollenzein officiating. Dee Wollenzein was the organist, and Jan Peterson was the soloist. Military honors were accorded by the VFW and American Legion Post of Thief River Falls. Burial was in the family plot at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls. The Green Funeral Home of Thief River Falls was in charge of the arrangements.

George Karl Larson was born on December 19, 1911 in Thief River Falls to Edward and Gina (Kolstad) Larson. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran and attended elementary school and high school in Thief River Falls.

On October 19, 1940 George was united in marriage to Pearl Nolan Crete at Thief River Falls. George served in the U.S. Army from December 30, 1943 until his discharge on January 22, 1946 at Camp McCoy, WI. He served in Rome Arno, southern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. The couple made their home in Thief River Falls and farmed south of town. He also drove truck for many years.

Following George's retirement, the couple moved to Gig Harbor, WA. Pearl died on December 13, 1984.

On May 13, 1985 he was married at Nordheim, TX to Nellie Anderson of Middle River. The couple made their home in Middle River until Nellie's death on August 13, 1990. Following Nellie's death, George moved to St. Cloud and has since made his home with his step son and his wife.

George is survived by two sisters, Esther Gudrum Best and Ardith Beatrice Larson-Ottman, both of Beldenville, WI;one step son, Mark (Kay) Anderson of St. Cloud; five step grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wives; parents; step son; four sisters, Ella Boyle, Mabel Peterson, Ida Lambert and Inga Severson; four brothers, Elmer Larson, Harold Larson, infant Arnold L. Larson, and Arnold W. Larson.
