Dwight Larson, 47, died Friday, January 14, 2000 at a result of an
automobile accident near Billings, MT.
Mass of Christian
burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. today (Wednesday, January 19) at St.
Bernard's Catholic Church in Thief River Falls. Bonnie Njaa will be
the organist, and the vocalists will be Jodi Mutnansky, Paula Olsen,
Amy Larson and Maria Larson. Casketbearers will be Brian Timm, Shane
Timm, Anthony Hendricks, Arron Hendricks, Brian Moyer and Michael
Olson. Military honors will be accorded by the Middle River American
Legion and the VFW. Burial will be in St. Bernard's Catholic Cemetery
in Thief River Falls.
Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Green Funeral Home. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to services at the church.
Dwight Galen Larson was born on May 16, 1952 in Thief River Falls, the son of Lester and Carolyn (Mutnansky) Larson. He attended grade school in Viking and graduated from Newfolden High School in 1970. After graduation he attended an airline school in Kansas City, MO. He then returned to Viking for a short time and worked for Arctic Cat in Thief River Falls.
In 1971 Dwight entered the U.S. Navy where he served as a Seabee. He was stationed in several places including the South Pole; Diego Garcia, an island in the Indian Ocean; and stateside. From March of 1973 until 1987 he was married to Marjorie Thomas.
After his honorable discharge in 1975 Dwight returned to Viking where he was employed as a heavy equipment operator for various construction companies for about five years. He also worked for Forsberg's and the John Nelson farm. In 1981 he started raising honey bees and also helped his father farm. During that time he also drove the road maintainer for New Solum township. On June 26, 1993 he was united in marriage to Barbara Olson for a short period of time. In November of 1998 he began working for Land O'Lakes in Thief River Falls.
Dwight was a member of the Middle River American Legion.
He enjoyed dancing, coffee time in Viking, hunting, fishing, playing cards and spending time with family, friends, nieces and nephews. He was also an avid Minnesota Vikings fan.
Dwight is survived by his mother, Carolyn of Viking; three sisters, Renae (Ron) Timm of Newfolden, Cheryl (Murray) Engelstad of Thief River Falls, and Dorene (Dwayne) Myers of Viking; three brothers, Wayne, Vincent (Suzan) and Eugene, all of Viking; many nieces and nephews; and several great- nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lester, and one brother, Keith. A00003B2000JA19
