Thief River Falls - Otto Lappegaard, 92, died Tuesday, June 13, 2000 at his home in Thief River Falls.
Funeral services
were held at 2
p.m. on Saturday,
June 17, at Trinity Luth-eran Church in Thief River Falls with Rev.
John Wollenzien officiating. Dee Wollenzien was the organist, and
Glenda Olson was the soloist. Casketbearers were Laurel Lappegaard,
Roger Lappegaard, Rick Lappegaard, Terry Lappegaard, Steven
Lappegaard and Scott Lappegaard. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery in
Thief River Falls with Green Funeral Home in charge of the
arrangements.
Otto Lappegaard was born on June 20, 1907 at Rosewood, the son of Ole and Mary (Myron) Lappegaard.
On February 10, 1932, he married Dena E. Simionson at Thief River Falls. Otto did carpentry work in various places before working for 35 years on the Soo Line Railroad.
Following his retirement in 1972, he enjoyed helping his children and his hobby of building small barns, many of which are seen around town. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends and especially, his grandchildren.
Otto is survived by his wife, Dena; five daughters, Darlene Arlington of St. Paul, Lavonne (George) Lee of Hutchinson, Beverly (Bill) Ketzner of St. Paul, Barbara (Conrad) McDougall of Minneapolis and Lorna (Dennis) Gunderson of Grand Forks, N.D; five sons, Laurel (Lavonne) Lappegaard of St. Paul, Roger (Sharon) Lappegaard of Angus, Rick Lappegaard of Anchorage, Alaska, Terry (Gwen) Lappegaard of Grand Forks, N.D. and Steven (Judy) Lappegaard of Thief River Falls; 40 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and four great great-grandchildren.
The last surviving child of Ole and Mary Lappegaard, he was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and four sisters.
