Thief River Falls - Evelyn Lanska, 82, died Saturday, April 24, 1999 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services will be held today (Wednesday, April 28) at 2 p.m. at Abundant Life Church in Thief River Falls with Reverend Wesley Langaas officiating. Bev Kays will be the organist, and Grace Hammer will provide vocal music. Casketbearers will be Natalie Stetson, Michael Stetson, Donn Tunheim, Noah Waldera, Cody Waldera and Teal Waldera. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls.

Visitation was held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 27 at Green Funeral Home with a 7 p.m. prayer service. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to services at the church.

Evelyn Opal Tunheim was born on July 31, 1916 in New Folden township of Marshall county, the daughter of Edward and Agnes (Bakke) Tunheim. She attended Newfolden schools.

Before moving to Thief River Falls, she worked for Reverend Myhrer in Newfolden. In Thief River Falls Evelyn worked at Jung's Bakery and Northwestern Hospital for 25 years. Following retirement she served as a hospice volunteer.

On December 8, 1939 she was united in marriage to Freeman Lanska in Warren. The couple resided in Thief River Falls where she was an active member of Abundant Life Church and its women's circles.

Survivors include her husband, Freeman of Thief River Falls; two daughters, Virginia (Don) Waldera of Silverthorne, CO and Ramona (Don) Stetson of Muncie, IN; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; her mother, Agnes Tunheim of Thief River Falls; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her father; two brothers, Glenn and Gene Tunheim; and one sister, Geneva Roman. A00003B1999AR28
