Maynard Laidley, 63

East Grand Forks - Maynard R. Laidley, 63, died Sunday, December 6, 1998 at the Valley Elder Care Center in Grand Forks, ND.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 10 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in East Grand Forks.

Visitation will be held today (Wednesday, December 9) from 5 to 7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service at Stennes Funeral Home in East Grand Forks. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.

Maynard R. Laidley was born on July 24, 1935 at Newfolden, the son of Roy and Sophia (Metheny) Laidley. He grew up in the Newfolden area and graduated from Newfolden High School in 1952. He then moved to East Grand Forks where he worked for Erickson Potato Company.

On May 26, 1956 he was united in marriage to Beatrice Helmowski in Milwaukee, WI. He worked as a boiler operator at Bridgeman Creameries for 25 years before retiring in 1988. Maynard worked for North Star Inn in Grand Forks, ND until 1992 and was currently a custodian at the University of North Dakota.

Maynard is survived by his wife, Beatrice; one son, Troy of Grand Forks, ND; one daughter, Cyndi (Dennis) Gaddie of East Grand Forks; his mother, Sophia of Newfolden; six grandchildren; two sisters, Maxine (LaVerne) Filpula of Thief River Falls and Beverly Kezar of Minneapolis; and one brother, Duane (Frances) Laidley of Newfolden.

He was preceded in death by his father and one sister, Betty Lou Koebernick.
