
Rapid City, SD - Avis LaFleur, 67, died Friday, August 13, 1999 at her home in Rapid City, SD.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 17 at Blessed Sacrament Church with Reverend Michel Mulloy officiating. Burial was in Black Hills National Cemetery. The Osheim-Catron Funeral Home of Rapid City, SD was in charge of the arrangements.
Avis Ann Bergum was born on March 30, 1932 in Rosewood, the daughter of Cleve and Sena Bergum. She graduated as the salutatorian of her high school class in Thief River Falls.
On August 2, 1950 she was united in marriage to Robert LaFleur at St. Paul. The couple lived in St. Paul until 1952 when they moved to Rapid City, SD. After raising their children, Avis attended National College and obtained an accounting degree. After passing the certified public accounting exam in 1983 she opened her own accounting practice. She sold the practice in 1992.
Avis enjoyed traveling with her husband, playing the stock market and playing bridge and poker with friends. She especially enjoyed time with grandchildren and watching their activities.
The couple recently celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary, and she enjoyed being with her family, especially her sister, Arlene.
Avis is survived by her husband, Robert of Rapid City; three sons, Mitch (Maureen) of Rapid City, Mark (Gay) of Hot Springs, and Jon (Julie) of Rapid City; seven grandchildren; and one sister, Arlene Douglas of Santa Barbara, CA. A00003B1999AG25
