Fargo, ND - Mary LaFave, 95, formerly of Thief River Falls, died Friday, September 24, 1999 at the Americana Nursing Home in Fargo, ND.
Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, Oct. 1 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Thief River Falls with Rev. Dennis Wieland officiating. Casketbearers will be Terry Maidment, Donnie LaFave, Luke Maidment, Elaine Maidment, Keith Maidment and Kay Maidment. Honorary casketbearers will include the residents and employees of Americana Nursing Home in Fargo, friends and family with special acknowledgement to her guardian, Nancy Beaker of Fargo. Burial will be in St. Bernard's Catholic Cemetery in Thief River Falls.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 30 from 4 to 8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. wake service at Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls.
Mary LaFave was born on November 15, 1903 in Thief River Falls, the daughter of Wesley and Bridget (Madden) LaFave. She was baptized and confirmed in the Roman Catholic faith and attended St. Bernard's School in Thief River Falls. Mary worked in hotels, restaurants and nursing homes in Thief River Falls. She also lived in California, Florida and Fargo, ND where she worked with her sister, Cora Dorval, managing apartment buildings. Following her retirement, she contined to live in Fargo and for the past years at Americana Health Care Center.
Mary is survived by one sister-in-law, Esther McKechnie of Thief River Falls; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, William LaFave; and five sisters, Rose LaFave at the age of four, Jane Frenette, Cora Dorval, Loretta Maidment and Elizabeth Frenette.
