Rose LaCoursiere, 87

Red Lake Falls - Rose LaCoursiere, 87, died Monday, April 3, 2000 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red Lake Falls.

Mass of Christian burial was held on Saturday, April 8 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls with Father Tim Bushy officiating. Kathie Knott was the organist, and special music was provided by St. Joseph's Church Choir. Casketbearers were Robin LaCoursiere, Kirk LaCoursiere, Peter LaCoursiere, Nicholas LaCoursiere, Terry LaCoursiere and Travis Fowler. Honorary Casketbearers were all of Rose's grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren. Interment was in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery with the Petterson Funeral Home of Red Lake Falls in charge of the arrangements.

Rose Alphonsine Chatel was born on April 12, 1912 at Red Lake Falls, the daughter of Ephrem and Marance (Goulet) Chatel. She grew up in Red Lake Falls, attended St. Joseph's School and graduated from Lafayette High School.

On December 28, 1934, she was united in marriage to E.J. "Tug" LaCoursiere at Red Lake Falls. The couple lived in Red Lake Falls where she worked for St. Michael Locker Service. Tug died on July 3, 1983. Rose had resided at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red Lake Falls since March 25, 1998.

She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, Catholic Daughters and Royal Neighbors of America. She was also a past president of the Forget Me Not Flower Club.

Rose enjoyed gardening and flowers.

Survivors include one daughter, Rita Perruse of Stratford, CT; four sons, Rolland (Phyllis) LaCoursiere of Wichita, KS, James LaCoursiere of Red Lake Falls, Jerry (Veronica) LaCoursiere of Eveleth and Mike (Bonnie) LaCoursiere of Bloomington; 21 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 2 great great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law; and one stepsister, Laura Mercil of Red Lake Falls.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tug LaCoursiere; one son, Marvin; and one grandson. A00003B2000AP12
