
Red Lake Falls - Dennis Kuester, 51, died Saturday, August 12, 2000 at his rural Red Lake Falls home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today (Wednesday, August 16) at Black River Lutheran Church near St. Hilaire with Rev. Galen Sylvester officiating. Ruth Mosbeck will be the organist, and the soloist will be Deb Cota. Casketbearers will be Dan Geller, Allen Morken, Les Arlt, Jim Rystad, Jim Kvam and Kevin Brevik. Burial will be in Black River Church Cemetery in Polk Centre township of Pennington county.
Visitation was held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 15, with a 7 p.m. prayer service at Johnson Funeral Service in Red Lake Falls. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to services at the church.
On Sunday, August 20, at 3 p.m. a memorial service will be held at Risen Savior Lutheran Church in Manteno, Ill. with Rev. Paul Crolius officiating.
Dennis Paul Kuester was born on May 23, 1949 in Watseka, Ill., the son of George and Marlene (Hildenbrand) Kuester. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Dennis grew up in the Bradley, Ill. area and graduated from Bradley-Bourbonnais Community High School. He then attended Illinois State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in law enforcement. He worked as a police officer in St. Louis, Mo. for about 10 years and then moved to Cable, Wisc. where he was self-employed in the logging business and as a chimney sweep.
On January 29, 1972, he was married to Karen Kent. Dennis moved to Superior, Wisc. where he worked as a dispatcher for Indianhead trucking. He then moved to Red Lake Falls, working as a social worker and supervisor at the Red Lake County Social Service Center. On August 23, 1997, he was united in marriage to Sharon Ann Cassavant at Black River Church near St. Hilaire.
Dennis was active at Black River Church as well as many other area organizations.
His main interest was his family, and he enjoyed yard work, gardening, fishing and hunting.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Sharon Kuester of Red Lake Falls; one son, Dennis Paul Kuester Jr. of Red Lake Falls; his parents, George and Marlene Kuester of Manteno, Ill.; two stepdaughters, Paulette Casavan and Fay Struthers; two brothers, Gary L. (Mellony) Kuester of Niceville, Fla. and James D. (Debbie) Kuester of Manteno, Ill.; one sister, Marcia A. (Steve) Eichman of Bradley, Ill.; and four grandchildren.
