Elmer L. Kron, 92

Newfolden - Elmer L. Kron, 92, died on Saturday, December 27, 1997 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services will be held today, Wednesday, December 31 at 10 a.m. at the Mission Covenant Church in Viking with Reverend Donn Roach officiating. Burial will follow at the Viking Cemetery. Arlene Hanson will be the organist. Naomi Zak and ShawnDee Price will be the soloists. Casketbearers will be Brian Mills, Alan Zak, Dennis Mills, Myron Iverson and Tom Price. Honorary casketbearers will be Elmer's fellow members of the Mission Covenant Church.

Visitation was held Tuesday from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Green Funeral Home and for one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.

Elmer Leonard Kron was born on February 18, 1905 in Bray township of Red Lake County, the son of Axel and Hilda (Lorenson) Kron. He moved with his family to Norden township where he attended school at the Willowdale School in the Rosewood community. Elmer worked on various farms in Minnesota and North Dakota.

On June 13, 1931 he was united in marriage to Evelyn Wood at St. Hilaire. The couple made their home in the rural Newfolden area. In 1943 Elmer went to work for the Wylie Company which was taken over by the Soo Line three years later. He retired in 1962.

Elmer is survived by one son, Larry Kron of Newfolden; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Laura Carlson of Bowman, ND; one brother, Bert (Joyce) Kron of Newfolden; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn on August 25, 1992; parents; one grandson, William Kron; three brothers, Clarence, Walter and Ray; one sister, Ethel Arnell; and several nieces and nephews.
