
Alexandria - Rosa Kotz, 97, died Sunday, November 26, 2000.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, December 2 at 2 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Bertha with Rev. Kirk Lee officiating. Music was provided by organist Becky Sellnow and vocalists Ray and Darlene Eiswald.
Graveside services were held on Sunday, December 3 at 1 p.m. at Jerusalem Cemetery in Moylan township near Goodridge with Rev. Don Kirchner officiating. Casketbearers were Lawrence Kiesow, Gerald Kiesow, Richard St. Martin, Steve Burke and Jerry Van Tassel. Arrangements were with Domian Anderson Funeral Home of Bertha.
Rosa Bertha Anna Kiesow was born on December 30, 1902 on the family farm in Moylan township of Marshall county near Goodridge, the daughter of Herman and Ida (Krueger) Kiesow. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and attended school in Moylan township. Rosa helped her parents, brothers and sisters in maintaining the family home and farm. After her sister Karoline "Lena" died during childbirth, Rosa helped raise her niece.
On June 28, 1942, she was united in marriage to Frederick Kotz. The couple made their home near Bertha where Rosa was a homemaker and helped Fred farm. In 1996, the couple moved to Parker's Prairie. Since 1997, Rosa had resided at Knute-Nelson Memorial Home in Alexandria.
Rosa enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting, embroidery, growing flowers and vegetables and especially entertaining and visiting with family and friends.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Rosa was preceded in death by her husband; parents; seven brothers, Ernest, Otto, Richard, Wilhelm, Erick, Heinrich and Herman Kiesow; and two sisters, Karoline Kalpin and Selma St. Martin. A00003B2000DC06
