
Alexandria - Frederick A. Kotz, 99, formerly of Bertha, died Wednesday, December 10, 1997 at Alexandria.
Funeral services were held Saturday, December 13 at 2 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Bertha with Reverend Curtis Foreman officiating. Casketbearers were Gerald Kiesow, Gary Kiesow, Steven Burke, Jerry VanTassel, Charles Wegner and Dennis Kiesow. Burial was at Peace Evangelical Cemetery in Bertha township.
Frederick August Kotz was born on February 12, 1898 in Bertha township, the son of Gustav and Anna (Ninekirk) Kotz. On June 28, 1942 he was united in marriage to Rosa B. Kiesow at the Kotz home in Bertha township. Frederick lived in the Bertha community for 98 years before moving to Parkers Prairie for one year and then to the Knute-Nelson Memorial Home in Alexandria in July of 1997.
He was a member of the Farm Bureau and the Bertha Creamery Association. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an expert cribbage player.
Frederick is survived by his wife, Rosa Kotz; one nephew; and one great-nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Carl, William, Walter and Paul; and two sisters, MarieThielke and Emma Waldon.
