Frances M. Korczak, 72

Greenbush - Frances Korczak, 72, died Sunday, February 8, 1998 at her home in Greenbush.

Services were held Wednesday, February 11 at 10:30 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Greenbush with Father Don Braukmann officiating. Special music was provided by Jeanne Novacek. Casketbearers were Dale Mekash, Bernard Gonshorowski, Slim Short, Glenn Iverson, Larry Anderson and Charles Lund. Honorary casketbearers were St. Anne's Sodality and Moen-Zimek Unit 88 of the American Legion Auxiliary. Burial was held at Blessed Sacrament Cemetery. The Gieseke Funeral Chapel of Greenbush was in charge of the arrangements.

Frances Mary Dziekonski was born September 13, 1925 in Dewey township near Greenbush, the daughter of Stephan and Helen (Cezelka) Dziekonski. She attended school near her home in Dewey township.

On October 7, 1947 she was united in marriage to Mike Korczak at Leo. They lived in Leonard for a short time before returning to Greenbush in 1948 and establishing Mike's Tavern. In 1950 the couple went into the grocery business. After Mike Korczak's death on May 5, 1975, Frances continued to operated the grocery store. She semi-retired in 1985 when she sold the store to her sons. For most of those years, she was associated with Red Owl stores.

Frances was an active member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and its ladies' groups including St. Anne's Sodality. She was also a member of Moen-Zimek Unit 88 of the American Legion Auxiliary.

She enjoyed oil painting and gardening and especially enjoyed spending time at her farm where she walked the dog, cut wood and enjoyed nature.

Frances is survived by four sons, Felix (Eunice) Korczak, Mike (Debbie) Korczak and Kenneth (Natalie) Korczak, all of Greenbush, and Robert ( Beth Ann) Korczak of Lancaster; one daughter Mary (Scott) Secor of Fridley; seven grandchildren; and two sisters, Stella Prybylski of Minneapolis and Anne Gonsioroski of South St. Paul.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one sister, Volga Brown; and three brothers, Bill, Joe and Stanley Dziekonski.
