Alyce Konickson, 77

Thief River Falls - Alyce Konickson, 77, formerly of Red Lake Falls, died Tuesday, February 10, 1998 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 13 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plummer with Reverend Clarence Johnson officiating. Linda Olson was the organist, and vocal music was provided by Jennifer Pageler. Casketbearers were Randy Konickson, Eric Skredergard, Paul Konickson, Timothy Neisen, Jerod Konickson, Lucas Neisen and Justin Konickson. Burial was held at Clara Lutheran Cemetery in River Falls township of Pennington County. The Green Funeral Home of Thief River Falls was in charge of the arrangements.

Alyce Lempi Esther Korvela was born on March 22, 1920 in rural New York Mills, the daughter of Alfred and Alida (Hendrickson) Korvela. She moved with her family from New York Mills to North Dakota and lived in several places. She attended school in Rock Lake, ND and Plummer. She graduated from Pershing High School in Plummer in 1937.

On November 27, 1938 she was united in marriage to Clarence Konickson at Red Lake Falls. The couple lived and farmed in River township of Red Lake County. Clarence died on January 29, 1993. Alyce continued to live in her home until August of 1996 when she moved to Valley Home in Thief River Falls.

Alyce was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plummer. She was a former member of Clara Lutheran Church at Hazel.

She enjoyed cooking, cake decorating, crossword puzzles, calligraphy, carpentry, embroidery, sewing, knitting, painting, music and gardening.

Alyce is survived by two daughters, Doris Skredergard of Billings, MT and Carol (Roger) Neisen of Mahnomen; four sons, Vernon (Carole) Konickson of Red Lake Falls; Lyle Konickson of Red Lake Falls; Roger (Arlys) Konickson of Plummer and Neil of Red Lake Falls; 19 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Marion Patenaude of Red Lake Falls; one brother, George (Elaine) Korvela of Minneapolis; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two grandchildren, Camile Skredergard and baby girl Konickson; four brothers, Hugo, Eino, Allen and Hjalmer Randa; and four sisters, Lila Kirsh, Mayme Pahkama, Ruth Warren and infant Verna.
