Thief River Falls - Hazel Konic, 80, died Sunday, April 30, 2000 at Oakland Park Nursing Home in Thief River Falls.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 5, at First Baptist Church in Thief River Falls with Rev. Ron Gullman officiating. Gloria Lee was the pianist, and special music was provided by Lyle Molskness, Rhonda Wengeler and Don Molskness. Casketbearers were Don Molskness, Steve Nordhagen, Dave Sheridan, Ervin Strandquist, John Wengeler and Alvin Asp. The Green Funeral Home of Thief River Falls was in charge of the arrangements.
Hazel Irene Hoffman was born on June 15, 1919 in Coalport in Clearfield county of Pennsylvania, the daughter of Clarence and Nellie (Graham) Hoffman. She was baptized on November 26, 1933 at Coalport Presbyterian Church by William T. Baily, Phd. She attended school in Irvona, Penn., graduating from high school there in 1937. Following graduation, she moved to upstate New York where she was employed.
From 1941 until 1972, Hazel was married to Paul S. Konic, and the couple lived in Philadelphia and New Jersey. In New Jersey, she was employed by a book binding company and also at Tingley Rubber Company for 18 years. Hazel moved to Philipsburg, Penn. where she did domestic work for a doctor. She lived for a short time in Florida before moving to Arizona and to Thief River Falls in 1994 to be near her daughter. She has lived at Oakland Park Nursing Home since 1994.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed arts and crafts, knitting, singing, listening to music and especially spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Hazel is survived by two daughters, Carol Brennan of Kennesaw, Ga. and Suzanne (Lyle) Molskness of Thief River Falls; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Sincox of Irvona, Pa. and Eva James of St. Petersburg, Fla; and the father of her children, Paul S. Konic of Toms River, N.J.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Grace Reilly; and two brothers, Roy Hoffman and Earl Hoffman. A00003B2000MY10
