Florence Knutson, 86

Thief River Falls - Florence Knutson, 86, died Saturday, March 21, 1998 at the CNC Unit of Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 24 at Oak Ridge Lutheran Church in Norden township of Pennington County. Reverend Paul Chell officiated. Louise Solseng was the organist, and Sherry Chell provided vocal music. Casketbearers were Wayne Olson, Glen Waller, Harris Waller, Harold Waller, James Waller, Kenneth Waller, Richard Waller and Roger Waller. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls. The Green Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Florence Marie Waller was born September 20, 1911 in Brainerd, the daughter of August and Inger (Olson) Waller. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith. The family moved to Brinsmade, ND where Florence attended school and graduated from high school. She moved to Minneapolis and did domestic work in homes there. She moved to Thief River Falls where she continued to do domestic work.

On January 1, 1942 Florence was united in marriage to Winton Knutson at Thief River Falls. The couple farmed west of Thief River Falls. Winton died on October 15, 1991. Florence moved into Thief River Falls in 1992.

She was an active member of Oak Ridge Lutheran Church. She was an animal lover, played piano and enjoyed quilting at church and keeping up with her family by correspondence.

Florence is survived by 20 nieces and nephews and one sister-in-law, Alice Lamberson of McKinleyville, CA.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Winton; her parents; 12 sisters and brothers Elvira Skene, Robert Waller, Harry Waller, Reverend Peter Waller, Walter Waller, Lawrence Waller, Alfred Waller, Art Waller, Frieda Olson, Hjalmer Waller, Peter Waller and Sarah Waller in infancy; and two nephews.
