
Apple Valley - Minnie Knight, 88, formerly of Thief River Falls, died Saturday, October 23, 1999 at Apple Valley Health Care Center in Apple Valley.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 28, 1999 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls with Rev. Galen Sylvester officiating. Joyce Halbasch will be the organist, and Rev. Terri Cuppett will be the vocalist. Casketbearers will be Harvey Delage, Benhart Johnson, Sherman Johnson, Alvin Paggen, Jay Skjerven and Hilary Stoltman. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be held today (Wednesday, October 27) from 6 to 8 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to services at the church.
Minnie O. Holmgren was born on September 23, 1911 in Thief River Falls, the daughter of John and Mary (Holm) Holmgren. She was baptized in the Christian faith and confirmed in the first confirmation class at Trinity Lutheran Church. She grew up and attended school in Thief River Falls, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1932.
On June 29, 1940, Minnie was united in marriage to Leland Knight at Holt. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Thief River Falls. After Leland died on October 23, 1982, Minnie continued to make her home in Thief River Falls, spending the last 13 years in nursing care.
She enjoyed her family and being a homemaker.
Minnie is survived by two daughters, Bonnie (John) Stewart of Eagan and Nancy (Donald) Skjerven of Mission Viejo, CA; two sons, Bixby (Deanne) Knight of Laughlin, NV and William "Bill" (Linda) Knight of St. George, UT; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leland, parents, and one brother, Hans Holmgren.
