River Falls - Emma Klockman, 97, died Sunday, March 5, 2000 at
Oakland Park Nursing Home in Thief River Falls.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 10 at St. John Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls with Rev. Donald Kirschner officiating. Elaine Idso will be the organist, and Lois Anderson will be the soloist.
Casketbearers will be Myron Ptacek, Ronnie Philipp, Herbert Goethe, Richard Klockman, Dale Svendsgaard and Stanley Hruby. Honorary casketbearers will be her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Debby Stenseth, Valorie Mattson, Kevin Klockman, Brian Stenseth, Kim Stenseth, Jill Stenseth, Ashley Stenseth, Janet Beverly, Paul Beverly, Alexis Klockman, Shane Klockman and Darian Klockman. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 9 with a 7 p.m. prayer service at Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
Emma Ptacek was born on July 9, 1902 in Klemme, Iowa, the daughter of Joe and Louise (Richardt) Ptacek. When she was two years old, Emma moved with her family to the Thief River Falls area where her parents homesteaded. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and attended school at District 46 in Pennington county. She worked at Black's Sweet Shop in Thief River Falls.
On September 26, 1923, Emma was united in marriage to Henry Klockman. The couple made their first home in Marshall county and later moved to the Mavie community. Emma helped on the family farm where she enjoyed raising cows and chickens and working in her garden. She resided at Skylite Apartments from 1981 until 1993 when she moved to Oakland Park.
She enjoyed reading Janet Oke books, playing cards, fishing and spending time with family and friends.
Emma is survived by one son, Ralph (Lillian) Klockman of Goodridge; three grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and special friend, Yvonne Habedank.
She was preceded death by her husband; parents; two sisters, Annie Sebek and Mayme Mammel; two brothers, Charles Ptacek and Albert Ptacek; and one great-grandson, Cory Stenseth. A00003B2000MR08
