Hansel K. Klemetson, 81-

Thief River Falls - Hansel K. Klemetson, 81, formerly of Greenbush, died Monday, June 8, 1998 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.

Funeral services were held on Friday, June 12 at 10 a.m. at United Free Lutheran Church in Greenbush with Pastor Dennis Gray officiating. Linda Berg was the organist, and vocal music was provided by Joyce and Danny Beito. Hansel's children, Audrey, Joyce, Beverly, Wayne, Gary and Roger were the casketbearers. Military honors were accorded by the Greenbush American Legion Post and the VFW Post of Thief River Falls. Interment was in the Badger City Cemetery. Arrangements were with the Collins Funeral Home of Greenbush.

Hansel Kenneth Klemetson was born on July 21, 1916 at Hillsboro, ND, the son of Tellef and Ingeborg (Halvorson) Klemetson. He attended school and grew to manhood there. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

On December 30, 1941 he was united in marriage to Bertha Roberts at Greenbush. In July of 1942, Hansel enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Normandy, northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and central Europe. After he was discharged in December of 1944, the couple moved to Greenbush. They farmed in Barto township near Greenbush, and Hansel worked in logging at the Northwest Angle. Other employment included the Greenbush Elevator and Wicklund Construction. He was employed at Polaris Industries at Roseau for 20 years. Bertha died on December 25, 1992, and in 1996, Hansel moved to Thief River Falls where he has since resided.

Hansel is survived by three daughters, Audrey (Frank) Christinson of Cavalier, ND, Joyce (Mike) Burkel of Thief River Falls and Beverly (Greg) Underdahl of Newfolden; three sons, Wayne (Diane) Klemetson and Gary Klemetson, both of Thief River Falls, and Roger (Faye) Klemetson of Badger; 17 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three brothers, Arthur and Tellef Jr., both of Hillsboro, ND, and Billy, of Bismarck, ND; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; one son, Harlan in 1988; one grandson, Tyler; and two sisters, Helen and Thelma.
