
Strandquist
- Antoinette "Toni" Kleinwachter, 78, died Thursday, March 4,
1999 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.
Mass of Christian burial was held at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 8 at St. Edward's Catholic Church in Karlstad with Bishop Victor Balke as presider, Father Robert Schreiner as homilist and Paul Kleinwachter as proclaimer. Special music was provided by Jeanne Novacek and Mitch Walski. Casketbearers were Tim Renstrom, Ron LaBine, Robert Kleinvachter, Marie Steffen, Shirley Anderson and Larry Bothum. Burial was in St. Edward's Catholic Cemetery in Lincoln township of Marshall county. The Green Funeral Home of Thief River Falls was in charge of the arrangements.
Antoinette Theresa Stancyk was born on August 23, 1920 in Wright township of Marshall county, the daughter of John and Frances (Hapka) Stancyk. She was baptized and confirmed at the Assumption Church in Florian.
Toni attended school in Stephen, graduating from Stephen High School in 1938. She then earned her teaching degree at Teacher's College in Warren. She began her long and enjoyable teaching career in a one-room country school. She later taught first and second grades in the Strandquist and Karlstad school system. She retired in 1985 .
On June 21, 1949 she was united in marriage to Julius "J.R." Kleinwachter at St John's Church in Alma. The couple farmed and raised their family in Nelson Park township of Marshall county until 1981 when they sold their farm to son Ben and moved to a home adjacent to the family farm. Julius died on June 7, 1998.
Toni enjoyed a very special friendship with the Sisters of Mount St. Benedict in Crookston.
She was a member of St. Edward's Church where she was involved in many activities, including teaching Sunday school. She was also a member of the Legion Auxiliary in Strandquist, Northern Lites Homemakers and the Minnesota Education Association.
Toni is survived by three sons, Father John Kleinwachter of Akeley, Paul (Shirley) Kleinwachter of Big Lake, and Ben Kleinwachter of Strandquist; two daughters, Patricia (Wayne) Larson and Betty (Terry) Pietruszewski, both of Strandquist; 10 grandchildren; two brothers, Stanley (Alice) Stancyk of Strandquist and John (Florence) Stancyk of Grand Forks, ND; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one brother, Tom Stancyk; and one sister, Bernice LaBine. A00003B1999MR10
