
Argyle - Hans Kirkeide, 85, died Tuesday, December 1, 1998 at the Good Samaritan Center in Warren.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, December 5 at 10:30 a.m. at Alma Lutheran Church, rural Argyle. Military honors were accorded by the Argyle American Legion. Interment was in Alma Lutheran Cemetery. The Quanrud-DuBore Funeral Home of Warren was in charge of the arrangements.
Hans Selmer Kirkeide was born on August 11, 1911 near Bricelyn, the son of Knudt and Anna (Hanson) Kirkeide. Hans attended Brush Creek School through the eighth grade. He graduated from the Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis.
Hans served in the Army Air Force as a sergeant from 1942 to 1945 in England and the European Theatre. He was in the 30th Photo Reconnaissance Squadron during the Battle of the Bulge.
On November 3, 1945 he was united in marriage to Ruth Lucille Liedberg at Alma Lutheran Church, rural Argyle. They made their home and farmed in rural Argyle. After Ruth died on February 4, 1987, Hans moved to Warren.
In 1992 Hans was named Warren's Outstanding Senior Citizen. He was an active member of Alma Lutheran Church where he served as secretary for many years. He was a past commander of the Argyle American Legion and a member of VFW Post 2793, Eagles, Sons of Norway, Argyle Scholarship Loan Association and the Farmers Union.
Hans is survived by three daughters, Kathleen (David) Larson of Argyle, Bonita (Larry) Murray of Mountain Iron and Madelyn (LeRoy) Vigen of Thief River Falls; one son, Harlan Kirkeide of Thief River Falls; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; one brother, Andrew; two sisters, Synevia Hanson and Maureen Jelle; one niece and two nephews.
