Thief River Falls - Florence Kinney, 92, died Saturday, November 15, 1997 at Oakland Park Nursing Home in Thief River Falls.
Funeral services will be held today, Wednesday, November 19 at 1 p.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls with Reverend Galen Sylvester officiating. Joyce Halbasch will be the organist, and LeRoy Aasland will be the soloist. The family will consider Florence's friends as honorary casketbearers. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Red Lake Falls.
Visitation was held from noon to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 18 at the Green Funeral Home with a 7 p.m. prayer service and one hour prior to services on Wednesday.
Florence Rife was born on March 2, 1905 in Anamoose, ND to Alfred and Ida May (Varey) Rife. She attended school at Anamoose and graduated from high school there. She moved to Fargo, ND and worked as a cook until 1933.
She was united in marriage to Henry Hartman in Fargo, ND. The couple lived in North Dakota until l949 when they moved with their family to Thief River Falls. They later moved to Red Lake Falls. Henry Hartman died in 1962.
In January of 1967 Florence married Al Kinney in Red Lake Falls. They were members of the Presbyterian Church in Red Lake Falls. The couple moved to Thief River Falls and made their home at the Sky-lite Apartments. Al Kinney died in 1984. Florence has lived at Oakland Park Nursing Home since l982.
She enjoyed her plants, visiting with family and reading. She loved cats.
Florence is survived by one daughter, Ardith (George) Soiney of Thief River Falls; one son, Darryl Hartman of Virginia Beach, VA; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Maybelle Soiney of Thief River Falls.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Wesley Soiney; one sister, Eva; and one brother, Maurice.
