Thief River Falls - Marie O. Kelly, 98, died Friday, December 31, 1999 at Oakland Park Nursing Home in Thief River Falls.
Funeral mass was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 3, 2000 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Thief River Falls with Father Dennis Weiland officiating. Carol Amundson was the organist, and Marie Nowacki was the vocalist. Casketbearers were Chad Hanson, Jason Hanson, Bryan Kelly, Justin Kelly, Paul A. Kelly and Scott Grausnick. Interment was in St. Bernard's Catholic Cemetery in Thief River Falls. The Collins Funeral Home of Karlstad was in charge of the arrangements.
Marie Olivia Winson was born on March 2, 1901 at Gatzke, the daughter of Ole and Signe (Amundsen) Winson. She attended school and grew up in Gatzke. Marie worked for a while as a waitress at the Evelyn Hotel in Thief River Falls.
On October 20, 1922 she was united in marriage to Edward E. Kelly at Thief River Falls. Edward died on September 28, 1969. Since August of 1996 Marie had resided at Oakland Park Nursing Home.
Marie was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church and the Sons of Norway.
She was very artistic and especially enjoyed painting and doing craft work over the years.
Marie is survived by two sons, Earl (Margaret) of Farmington and Harold of Thief River Falls; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two nieces and two nephews; and several other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, four brothers and three sisters. A00003B2000JA05
