Thief River Falls - Daniel Keefe, 71, died Friday, December 3, 1999 at the CNC unit of Northwest Medical Center.
Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, December 9 at 11 a.m. at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Thief River Falls with Rev. Dennis Wieland officiating. Carol Amundson will be the organist, and special music will be provided by the Resurrection Choir.
Casketbearers will be Daniel's children, Diane, Patricia, Michael, William, Timothy and Jeffrey. His grandchildren, Renae, Eric, Jennifer, Chanc, Hamilton, Benja-min, Brandon, Dana, Amanda, Amber, Myles, Elysha, Bryan and Kyle, will be the honorary casketbearers. Burial will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery in Terrebonne township of Red Lake county.
Daniel Louis Keefe was born on June 17, 1928 in Walker, the son of Edward and Kathleen (Norton) Keefe. He graduated from the Northwest School of Agriculture in Crookston.
On November 22, 1952 Dan was united in marriage to Yvonne Riel in Oklee. The couple lived and farmed in rural Thief River Falls, and Dan worked as a footboard yardmaster for the Soo Line Railroad for 24 years. He retired on disability in 1977.
He enjoyed horses and horse shows and was an active member of the Thief River Falls Saddle Club, serving as its president from 1960 to 1965.
In later years, Dan enjoyed making wood crafts and gardening, sharing with family and friends. He especially enjoyed visiting with family and friends and attending auction sales and garage sales.
Dan is survived by his wife, Yvonne; two daughters, Diane Olson of Hillsboro, ND and Patricia (Ken) Prouty of Bagley; four sons, Michael (Roz) of Thief River Falls, William (Anita) of St. Cloud, Timothy (Debra) of St. Hilaire and Jeffrey of Thief River Falls; 14 grandchildren; three sisters, Elsie (Clarence) Tolness of Crookston, Sister Gertrude Keefe RSM of Aberdeen, SD and Veronica (Gerald) LaCoursiere of Eveleth; three brothers, Bernard (Lois) of Northgleen, CO, David of Fort Morgan, CO and Richard (Chris) of Richfield; one brother-in-law; two aunts; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Cecil and Donald; and one brother-in-law. A00003B1999DC08
