Emma Kammen, 89

Greenbush - Emma Kammen, 89, died Sunday, August 13, 2000 at Greenbush Community Nursing Home in Greenbush.

Services will be held at 10:30 Kammen obit color a.m. Thursday, August 17, at Badger Creek Lutheran Church in Badger with Rev. Raynard Huglen officiating. Robbin and Roger Mathsen will sing a vocal duet accompanied by Ronelle Mathsen. Casketbearers will be Curtis Thompson, Donald Thompson, David Thompson, Kenneth Kammen, Danny Dunrud, William Wagner and Allen Boroos. Interment will be in Badger City Cemetery.

Visitation will be held for one hour prior to services at the church. Green Funeral Home of Thief River Falls is in charge of the arrangements.

Emma Kammen was born on December 7, 1910 at Badger, the daughter of Syvert M. and Kristi Kammen. She graduated from Badger High School and remained at home, caring for her mother and brother. She was baptized and later confirmed in the Christian faith on December 6, 1925 at Bethania Lutheran Church, Badger.

Emma was an accomplished seamstress and did much sewing for weddings and other families. She also worked as a secretary for her brother's insurance agency, Roseau County Mutual Insurance. In later years, she moved from the farm to Badger. In the mid 1980s she lived in Minneapolis for a short while before making her home in Newfolden. Emma moved to Greenbush Community Nursing Home in 1996.

She enjoyed gardening, working with flowers, baking and visiting with friends and family over coffee.

Survivors include three sisters-in-law and 20 nieces and nephews.

Emma was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Sigurd, Martin, Albert and Olaf; and three sisters, Ann, Olga and Magna.
