Paul Kaml, 83

Euclid - Paul Pius Kaml, 83, of rural Euclid, died at his home Friday, January 22, 1999.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 29, at 2 p.m. in the Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home in Crookston. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home with a 7 p.m. prayer service and for one hour before the funeral. Interment will be in the Czech National Cemetery at Tabor.

Paul was born to Ludvig and Agnes (Hluncy) Kaml at Roseau on May 6, 1915. He grew up at Greenbush and attended rural school there. In 1938 he moved to rural Angus where he lived and worked on the John Taus farm for more than six years.

On Jan. 24, 1944, he was united in marriage to Rose Kluzak at East Grand Forks. Later that same year he began working at the Jack Garry farm near Euclid. In 1949 Paul and Rose began farming on their own in Fanny township of Polk county near Euclid. For several years, starting in the early 1960s, Paul also was employed during the fall harvest campaigns by the American Crystal Sugar Company in East Grand Forks.

Rose died Sept. 25, 1977. Paul retired from farming in 1981 and continued to farm in semi-retirement until 1988. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to fish and hunt.

Survivors include three daughters, Elaine Kaml of Euclid, Carolyn Kaml of Watkins and Marion (Danny) Green of Bynum, AL; two sons, Myron (Sharlene) Kaml of Green River, WY and Harlan (Lorna) Kaml of Euclid; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Steven (Helen) Kaml and Victor (Miranda) Kaml of Greenbush and Andrew (Doris) Kaml of Phoenix, AZ; a sister-in-law, Dolly Kaml of Angus; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose; a son, Duane, in 1968; three sisters, Julia Shimpa, Annie Penas and Katie Shimpa; and five brothers, Ludvig, Anton, Otto, Joe and George Kaml.
