
Greenbush - Darrel Kalka, 37, died Thursday, November 23, 2000 at Roseau Area Hospital.
Services were held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, November 30 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Greenbush with Father Don Braukmann officiating. Eucharistic ministers were Leroy and Vivian Omdahl and Terry Brazier. Bernie Reese was the reader, and special music was provided by Jeanne Novacek. Interment was in St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery in Leo. Arrangements were with Collins Funeral Home of Greenbush.
Darrel John Kalka was born on May 15, 1963 at Roseau, the son of Raphael and Mary (Diakowycz) Kalka. He grew up and attended school in the Greenbush community. He was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith.
On July 30, 1988, D.J. was united in marriage to Carol Kjos at Greenbush. He was employed by Marvin Windows for 17 years.
Darrel was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Greenbush.
Survivors include his wife, Carol; two sons, Stephan and Brady, both at home; his parents, Ray and Mary Kalka of Ilion, N.Y.; four brothers, Emil of Greenbush, Danny (Cindy) of Medina, Ohio, Terry (Bonnie) of Ilion, N.Y. and Jerry (Claire) of Frankfort, N.Y.; two sisters, Ann (Roger) Shweid of Rocklin, Calif. and Karen (Jim) DeCarr of Rohnert Park, Calif., and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Darrel was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents and an uncle. A00003B2000DC06
