- Clement Kalinoski, 91, died Tuesday, October 17, 2000 at Mayo
Hospital in Phoenix, Ariz.
Services were held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 21, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Leo with Father Don Braukmann officiating. Alice Blawat and Bernadine Gross were the eucharistic ministers, and musicians were Alice Blawat, Cynthia Efta and Mitch Walski. Readers were Greg and Stacia Kalinoski, David and Peggy Kalinoski and family were giftbearers. Justin and Shawn Stanislawski were the altar servers, and ushers were Rudy and Floyd Blawat.
Casketbearers were Van Kalinoski, Gary Kalinoski, Marty Gross, Ron Kalinoski, Nick Kalinoski and LeRoy Dallager. Interment was in St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery at Leo. Military honors were accorded by Greenbush American Legion Post 88, and Collins Funeral Home of Greenbush was in charge of the arrangements.
Clement Kalinoski was born on May 6, 1909 in Barto township of Roseau county near Greenbush, the son of Nick and Mary (Bozikowski) Kalinoski. The family moved to Polonia township were Clem grew up. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Aloysius Catholic Church and attended a one-room rural school. He spent his entire life on the farm with the exception of time he spent serving in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1943.
On October 26, 1948, he was united in marriage to Helen Kulchyski at St. Aloysius Catholic Church. The couple farmed and raised their family in Polonia township.
Clem was an active member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church and its Men's Club and was a past Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus. He was also a very active member of the Greenbush American Legion and served as vice commander, color bearer for many years and in later years as color guard.
He enjoyed attending Legion meetings and visiting with his fellow Legionnaires, helping on the farm, reading, visiting, walking, playing cards and especially spending time with his family.
Clem is survived by his wife, Helen; a daughter, Kathleen (Bill) Smith of Scottsdale, Ariz.; three sons, Greg (Barb) of Thief River Falls, David (Peggy) of Michigan, N.D. and Wayne of Williams; nine grandchildren; a sister, Joan (Victor) Soller of Albert Lea; two brothers, Victor (Lila) of Thief River Falls and August (Joan) of Milwaukee, Wisc.; a brother-in-law; a sister-in-law; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Angeline Ruebush; four brothers, John, Eddie, Andrew and Leo; and a son-in-law, Art Wagner. A00003B2000OC25
