
Gary - Shirley Kaiser, 62, died Wednesday, October 4, 2000 at her rural Gary home.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, October 7, at 10 a.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Mahnomen with Father Rick Lambert officiating. Monica Winter was the organist, and song leaders were Maryann Brisbois and Carol Liebl. Casketbearers were Roger Knutson, Randy Knutson, Morris Stalboerger, Michael Stalboerger, Doug Flicek and Allen Lien. Interment was in St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery in Mahnomen with Anderson Funeral Home of Mahnomen in charge of the arrangements.
Shirley Ann Lien was born on August 2, 1938 on a farm near Borup, the daughter of Olender and Minnie (Jacobson) Lien. She spent her early childhood there and attended school before moving with her family to the Twin Valley area. Shirley graduated from Twin Valley High School in 1957.
On November 9, 1957, she married Theodore Kaiser at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Mahnomen. The couple made their home and farmed together east of Gary. From the mid-1980's to the late 1980's, Shirley worked at the Ben Franklin Store in Mahnomen. She was then employed at Walt's Jack and Jill store for several years and later at Star Dry Cleaning, both in Mahnomen. From 1998 until retiring due to ill health in December of 1999, Shirley worked at the Shooting Star Casino in Mahnomen.
She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and its Ladies Aid. She was also once an active homemakers club member.
Shirley enjoyed collecting and refinishing antique furniture, making quilts, cooking, baking, entertaining, and especially spending time with her children and grandchildren, sharing in their school and church activities.
Survivors include her husband, Ted of Gary; three sons, Rick (Marilyn) of Mahnomen, Leo and David (Mary), both of Gary; three daughters, Sandra (Paul) Peterick of Thief River Falls, Sherry (Paul) Radermacher of Casselton, N.D. and SuzAnn Kaiser of Dilworth; two brothers, Milo (Kathy) Lien fo Mahnomen and Lloyd (Arvilla) Lien of Twin Valley; three sisters, Carol (Art Jr.) Benson of Twin Valley, Orva Johnson of Portland, Ore. and Joyce Montplaisir of Fargo, N.D.; and nine grandchildren.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Berniece, Myrtle, Gladys and Mavis; a brother, Ervin; and a granddaughter, Courtney. A00003B2000OC11
