
Warren - Valda "Val" Jorgenson, 60, died of cancer on Thursday, January 29, 1998 at her home in Warren.
Funeral services were held on Monday, February 2 at 10 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Warren. Burial was at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls. The Quanrud-DuBore Funeral Home of Warren was in charge of the arrangements.
Valda Veronica Votava was born on October 23, 1937 at Thief River Falls, the daughter of Ward and Celaine (Prestegaard) Votava. She attended St. Bernard's School and Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls and Bemidji State College. She worked as a teller at Union State Bank in Thief River Falls and the Farmer and Mechanics Savings Bank in Minneapolis. Val was a computer programmer when Farmers and Mechanics Bank computerized its operation.
On April 28, 1962 Val was united in marriage to Larry G. Jorgenson. In 1969 the couple moved to Warren.
She was a past member of the Warren Women's Club, Warren Bridge Club, a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and a past member of the church council.
Val is survived by her husband, Larry of Warren; parents, Ward and Celaine Votava of Thief River Falls; three sisters, Celestine Naylor of Thief River Falls, Josephine McAdam of Phoenix, AZ and Rosemary (Robert) Kline of Rochester; and three brothers, Eugene (Carol) Votava of East Grand Forks, Ward (Sharon) Votava of Thief River Falls and Timothy Votava of Grand Forks, ND. Several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and grand nieces and grandnephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Vincent.
