Memorial services were held on December 12 in Quartzite, and burial was in the Veterans Cemetery in Medford, OR.

Martin Albin Jorde was born on May 10, 1916 in Excel township of Marshall county, the son of Carl and Emma (Olson) Jorde. He was baptized and later confirmed into the Christian faith in Thief River Falls. He attended school in Thief River Falls, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1934.

In 1941 he was married to Lila Lane. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. After the war, he lived in the San Fernando Valley in California and later moved to Medford, OR. He also lived in Othello, WA and in the winters lived in Quartzite, AZ. Martin was employed as a carpenter. He later married Burnie Elmore in Quartzite, AZ.

He enjoyed traveling, dancing and especially spending time with family and friends.

Martin is survived by his wife, Burnie; one daughter, Janice (Jack) Smeltz of Reno, NV; two sons, Ken (Bobbie) Jorde of Salem, OR and Steven (Carol) Jorde of Seattle, WA; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Myrtle Gist of El Cajon, CA, Laura (Edward) LaPointe of Rochester and Doris (Ray) Spencer of Palm Desert, CA; and three brothers, Alfin of Blooming Prairie, Chester (Betty) of Thief River Falls and Don (Grace) of Thief River Falls.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lila in 1990; his parents; one sister, Evelyn; and one brother, Ruben. A00003B2000JA19
