- Pearl W. Jones, 92, died Saturday, January 1, 2000 at Northwest
Medical Center in Thief River Falls.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday, January 5) at the United Lutheran Church in Gatzke with Rev. Sandra Hollands officiating. Gloria Sistad will be the organist, and special music will be provided by soloist Kelsey Bruso and Mary Ann Lunsetter and Muriel Larson presenting a duet. Burial will be at Moose River Cemetery in Gatzke.
Visitation will be held for one hour prior to services at the church with the Green Funeral Home of Thief River Falls in charge of the arrangements.
Pearl W. Watters was born on April 13, 1907 in Wheaton, the daughter of Charles and Rose (Scherer) Watters. She attended school in Wheaton for a few years and then moved to Broadus, MT with her family. She returned to Alexandria where she graduated from high school. Pearl also attended college in Mankato for two years.
On June 30, 1931 she was united in marriage to Bert Jones at the Presbyterian Church in Long Prairie. Pearl worked at Hart's Department Store, Pefferle's Dime Store and Helen's Dress Shop in Long Prairie. She also sold Avon products for a few years, and Bert owned and operated the Pure Oil Station in Long Prairie until 1953. The couple attended the Long Prairie Presbyterian Church and later the Reynolds Baptist Church. They moved to Gatzke in 1979.
Pearl enjoyed traveling, dancing, fishing, embroidery, late night movies, pets, yard work and especially spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband, Bert of Gatzke; one daughter, Sandra (Alan) Severts of Gatzke; two grandchildren; one great-grandson; one sister, Norma Brabec of Scottsdale, AZ; and one niece.
Pearl was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Maude Johnson. A00003B2000JA05
