
Warren - Mae Johnson, 90, died Thursday, October 2, 1997 at the Good Samaritan Center in Warren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 4 at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Warren. Interment was at Greenwood Cemetery in Warren. The Quanrud-DuBore Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Mae Anne Kenney was born May 2, 1907 at Lansford, ND, the daughter of James and Mary (Peterson) Kenney. As a young girl, she moved with her family to St. Hilaire. After graduating from high school in St. Hilaire, she took a teacher's training course in Thief River Falls. For the next seven years, she taught all eight grades in a one-room school house at Hazel.
On May 27, 1934, Mae was united in marriage to B. Everett Johnson at New London. They farmed near Alvarado before moving to rural Warren. B. Everett died in December of 1989. For the past eight years, Mae has resided at the Good Samaritan Center.
She was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church of Warren where she was involved in the music ministry for over 40 years, serving at various times as pianist, organist and choir director for adults and youth groups. She was a member of the CWA. For many years, she and her husband actively assisted with the Young Peoples' activities.
Mae is survived by two daughters, Joy Anne (Robert) Sandstrom of Concord, CA and Jo Anne (John) Gamelle of San Diego, CA; one son, James (Shirley) Johnson of rural Warren; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters, Ellen Anderson and Leila Meyer; and one brother, Neil Harcum.
