
Thief River Falls - Madison Paige Johnson, 19 month old daughter of Erick Johnson and Jessica Grorud, died on Tuesday, September 22, 1998 at Fairview University Hospital in Minneapolis following two liver transplants, one from her mother and the other from an anonymous donor.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, September 25 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls with Reverend Tim Bauer officiating. Marilyn Wigness was the organist, and Belinda Fjeld was the vocalist. Casketbearers were Chris Eckman, Clifford Fjeld, Pete Hendrickson and Jeff Johnson.
Madison Paige Johnson was born on February 16, 1997 in Thief River Falls. She was baptized on October 12, 1997 at Trinity Lutheran Church and has made her home with her parents in Thief River Falls.
Though she endured many procedures because of her health condition, Madison was a happy, contented child who won the love of those around her, including the nurses who cared for her and monitored her condition.
With a zest for laughter and music, Madison brought the joy to her parents, family and friends that will be treasured always.
In addition to her parents, Madison is survived by her grandparents, Kurtis and Debra Grorud and Dudley and Cheri Johnson, all of Thief River Falls; great-grandparents, Betty Jean Nolby of Champlin, LaVonne Ione Johnson of Karlstad, Clifford Fjeld Sr. of Fosston and Sara Grorud of Mahnomen; two aunts, Jessica Johnson and Meghan Grorud; and several great aunts, great uncles and cousins.
