Mabel Johnson, 92

Goodridge - Mabel Johnson, 92, died Tuesday, November 3, 1998 at Oakland Park Nursing Home in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. on Friday, November 6 at Faith Lutheran Church in Goodridge with Reverend Robert Dahlen officiating. Margie Iverson was the organist, and Grace Hammer was the soloist. Casketbearers were Rick Easthouse, Doug Easthouse, Darin Easthouse, Chad Johnson, Allen Johnson and Brian Byklum. Honorary casketbearers were John, Lawrence and Dick Rosett. Burial was in Germantown Cemetery in Grand Plain township of Marshall county. The Green Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mabel Graff was born on November 21, 1905 in Moylan township of Marshall county, the daughter of John and Secilia Graff. She was baptized and confirmed in Germantown and attended rural school. Mabel graduated from Goodridge High School in 1923. She attended and completed teacher's training and taught for several years in rural Goodridge.

On May 19, 1926 Mabel was united in marriage to Albert Johnson in Mavie by Reverend Sabo. The couple raised its family and farmed in Grand Plain township of Marshall county. Albert died in 1972, and Mabel continued to live on the farm until 1993 when she moved to Oakland Park Nursing Home in Thief River Falls.

She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Goodridge and enjoyed gardening and spending time with family and friends.

Mabel is survived by two daughters, Florence (Irving) Easthouse of Goodridge and Avis (Rodney) Byklum of Grygla; four sons, Donald Johnson, Eldon Johnson and Leon (Naomi) Johnson, all of Goodridge, and Everett (Linda) Johnson of Cold Spring; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one grandson, Gary Easthouse; one great-granddaughter, Courtney Theisen; three brothers, John, Ed and Fred Graff; and three sisters, Emma Swenson, Leafie Quam and Lillian Taylor.
