
Oklee - Inga Johnson, 84, died Tuesday, January 13, 1998 at St. Frances Hospital in Memphis, TN.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 17 at 10:30 a.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church of rural Gully with Reverend Eric Midthun officiating. Sarah Gunning was the organist, and Vernon Hamnes was the soloist. Casketbearers were Glenn Bergerson, Duane Bergerson, Russell Merlin Norberg, David Norberg, Glen Langseth and Robert Vanderport. Burial was in the church cemetery. The Petterson Funeral Home of Red Lake Falls was in charge of the arrangements.
Inga Otelia Sweno was born on June 22, 1913 in Wanke, the daughter of Martin and Karen (Bergh) Sweno. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church of rural Gully.
On June 16, 1942 Inga was united in marriage to Floyd E. Johnson at the parsonage in Gully. Floyd died on February 10, 1981. Inga was spending the winter with her daughter, Cecelia Gilkey in Byhalia, Mississippi.
She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, a former Sunday school teacher and for many years was an active member of the Bethany Ladies' Aid.
Inga is survived by one son, Merlin (Patti) of Hastings; two daughters, Marlene (Jim) Allen of Gonvick and Cecelia (James) Gilkey of Byhalia, MS; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Mabel Bergerson of Gully; one brother, Carl Sweno of Trail; one brother-in-law; several sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd; parents; and one brother, Henry Sweno.
