
McIntosh - Henry "Snus" Johnson, 74, formerly of Plummer, died Wednesday, July 28, 1999 at McIntosh Manor Nursing Home in McIntosh.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 31 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plummer with Reverend Clarence Johnson officiating. Effie Byer was the organist, and Cindy Arlt was the soloist. Casketbearers were Whitey Johnson, Jim Anderson, Garey Giffen, Sidney Myhre, James Kelley and Jim DuChamp. Military honors were accorded by the Plummer American Legion Post. Burial was in the Emardville Cemetery near Plummer. The Petterson Funeral Home of Red Lake Falls was in charge of the arrangements.
Henry Johnson was born on May 20, 1925 at Federal Dam, the son of Dell and Madeline (Nelson) Larson. The family lived at Federal Dam and then moved to East Grand Forks where they farmed. They later moved to Emardville township near Plummer where they raised small grain and cattle.
Henry served in the U.S. military and received a medical discharge. He returned to the family farm in Gervais township near Terrebonne. In later years the family sold the fruits and vegetables that they raised in their big garden.
Henry lived on the farm until becoming ill and moving to the McIntosh Manor Nursing Home on September 19, 1995.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, woodworking and poetry. In his later years he enjoyed attending flea markets.
Henry is survived by one half brother, Bill (Betty) Johnson of Florida, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one half brother, Vernon Noterman. A00003B1999AG04
