Thief River Falls - Clara Johnson, 91, died Monday, August 30, 1999 at the Warroad Care Center in Warroad.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until noon on Friday, September 3 at the Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls. Burial will be in the Community Cemetery in St. Hilaire.
Clara Flaten was born on August 9, 1908 at Haug, the daughter of Richard O. and Olga (Kallhusen) Flaten.
She married Arthur Spilde in Kittson county and worked as a nurse at the Hallock Hospital for several years.
In December of 1945 she was united in marriage to Helge Johnson at Hallock. Clara worked as a registered nurse in the CNC unit at Northwest Medical Center until her retirement. Helge died on August 2, 1998.
Clara enjoyed doing things for others. She lived at Valley Home in Thief River Falls from 1992 until 1999 and recently moved to the Warroad Care Center to be near her niece, Betty Erickson.
Survivors include one half sister, Emma Flaten of Bloomington, and several nieces and nephews.
Clara was preceded in death by her husband, Helge; her parents; two brothers, Carl Flaten and Melvin Flaten; three sisters, Cora Spilde, Gladys Perreault and Mary Peterson; and one half sister, Olga Nygaard. A00003B1999SP25
