Fertile - Donna Jensrud, 70, died Tuesday, December 29, 1998 at her home in Fertile.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 2, 1999 at Concordia Lutheran Church in Fertile. Burial was in Concordia Lutheran Cemetery. The Erikson-Vik Funeral Home of Fertile was in charge of the arrangements.
Donna Marie Solie was born on August 5, 1928 in rural Crookston, the daughter of Leonard and Florence (Plante) Solie. She attended a country school and the Fertile Public School. Following her schooling she worked at Alfred and Polly Brunsberg's cafe.
On October 31, 1945 she was united in marriage to Harvey Jensrud in Crookston. After raising 10 children Donna began working in the Fertile Bakery. In 1977 she began working in the Fertile- Beltrami School as a cook. She retired in 1990. Donna received her G.E.D. high school diploma from Fertile-Beltrami School in 1980. In 1992 Harvey and Donna moved from their rural home into Fertile.
Donna was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Fertile. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and working in the yard and garden. She especially enjoyed growing flowers and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Donna is survived by her husband, Harvey of Fertile; three sons, Marlen (Sherry) Jensrud, Mark (Arla) Jensrud, and Myles (Barbara) Jensrud, all of Fertile; seven daughters, Diane (Karle) Severson of Ocean Port, NJ, Kathryn (Roger) Haugen of Hawley, Patricia (Tom) Mjelde of Newfolden, Joan (Dennis) Johnson of Crookston, Connie (Gary) Lee of Fertile, Pamela (Dan) Solberg of Viking, and Sherri (Clark) Erickson of Casselton, ND; 25 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Walter (Beatrice) Solie and Willard (Donna) Solie, both of Fertile; five sisters, Doris Jensrud of Moose Lake, and Margie (Vernon) Howes, Madeline Jagol, Vanna (Roger) Raaen, and LaVonne (Merlin) Raaen, all of Fertile; and several nephews, nieces and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Vernon; and one grandson, Jeremy David Mjelde.
