Lila Jensen, 76

Thief River Falls - Lila Jensen, 76, died Wednesday, September 24, 1997 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services were held Saturday, September 27 at 10 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls with Reverend Gary Johnson officiating. Ida Nordvall was the organist, and Judy and Mike Melby provided vocal music. Casketbearers were Kenny Beito, LaVerne Nelson, Vernie Peterson, Ronnie Jensen, Scottie Peterson and Marvin "Snooky" Moen. Burial was at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls. The Green Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Lila Ione Nelson was born August 15, 1921 in Warren, the daughter of Gunnar and Emma (Brekkestran) Nelson. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith in Warren and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Newfolden.

She was united in marriage to Edward Jensen on June 22, 1941. The couple resided in the Marshall and Pennington County areas. The family moved to Thief River Falls in the 1950's where Lila worked as a waitress and housekeeper in various homes and businesses. The couple retired in the mid-70's and traveled to the Southwest in the winters. Edward died in 1986, and Lila continued to make her home in Thief River Falls.

Lila was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. She enjoyed baking, reading, crocheting, sewing and listening to the radio.

Lila is survived by one daughter, Bonnie (Chet) Camp of Thief River Falls; two grandchildren; two brothers, Junior Nelson of Meeker, CO and Jimmy Nelson of St. Paul; three sisters, Hanna Moen of Newfolden, Cora Rantenan of Middle River and Betty (Ervin) Peterson of Middle River; eight sisters-in-law; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward; one son, Larry Edward Jensen; and six brothers, Henry, Evald, Melvin, Wallace, Lloyd and Elmer.
