Harry Jensen, 91

Roseau - Harry Jensen, 91, died Saturday, June 10, 2000 at the Roseau Area Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 17 at Rose Free Lutheran Church in Roseau. Interment will be in the Moe-Rose Cemetery at Roseau.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 16, from 5 to 8 p.m. with an 8 p.m. family service at Helgeson Funeral Chapel in Roseau.

Harry Battling Jensen was born on September 20, 1908 in Roseau, the son of Timan and Mina (Sundby) Jensen. He attended school in District 109 and worked on the farm after his father's death. He later worked in the Red River area as a carpenter for the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. In June of 1936, he purchased the family farm in Jadis township of Roseau county.

On November 23, 1926, he was married to Audrey Helstad in Roseau. In addition to small grain, they raised dairy cows, sheep, turkeys and chickens. Harry used his carpentry skills on the farm as well as when helping others. The Jensen's farming endeavors earned them both the "Honor Dairyman" and "Clean Farm" awards.

Harry enjoyed working on the farm, planting trees and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Audrey of Roseau; two daughters, Charlotte (Ray) Lorenson of Grand Rapids and Marjory (Jim) Sadler of Wayzata; one son, Richard (Mary) Jensen of East Pembrooke, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Hazel (Alfred) Smedsmoe and Myrtle Pollestad, both of Roseau.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Willie, Roy and Carl; and three sisters, Irene and infant twins, Selma and Clara. A00003B2000JN14
