Elroy Jensen, 80

İİİThief River Falls - Elroy Jensen, 80, died on Thursday, August 26, 2004 at Oakland Park Nursing Home in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services were held on Monday, August 30, at the Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, with Rev. Luther Peterson officiating.Casket bearers included Bruce Seaverson, Gary Langheid, Ernest Melvie, Chet Engelman, Claire Pederson and Robert Engh. Honorary casket bearers included all of Elroyís friends, cousins and nieces. Interment was held at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls.

İİİElroy Clarence Jensen was born on September 27, 1923 in Rochester, the son of Gust and Marie (Pederson) Jensen.He was baptized by Rev. Jorgenson at the United Lutheran Church in Grand Forks, N.D., in January of 1926. The family lived in Grand Forks, N.D. until the spring of 1926 when they moved to a farm near Edinburg, N.D., where they began farming. Elroy received his education at Edinburg and attended Sunday school and Bible school at Odalen Lutheran Church.

İİİElroyís family moved to Viking, in 1947, where he continued to farm.He spent some of his time as a jeweler and watchmaker in Bagley and Thief River Falls. He also worked for 17 years at American Crystal Sugar Company, until his retirement.

İİİElroy enjoyed traveling and in the summer of 1977 he traveled to Norway with his sister, Lucille and brother-in-law, Olger.He visited Nittedal where his father was born and parts of Norway where his grandparents originated.

İİİHe entered Northwest Medical Center February of 2001 after having fallen at his farm.Elroy later moved to Valley Home and later to Oakland Park Nursing Home.He was able to attend his family reunion on August 1, 2004 in Grand Forks, N.D., with 87 family members.

İİİHe enjoyed playing his guitar with Lois Anderson and others, on Wednesdays, while at Valley Home.He liked to entertain his friends at Oakland Park with his button accordion.

İİİElroy is survived by his sister, Lucille (Olger) Langheid of Grand Forks, N.D.; nephews: Gary Langheid of Grand Forks, N.D., Bruce (LaVonne) Seaverson of Middle River, Warren Seaverson of Lake George; nieces: Shelley (Langheid) Bares of Grand Forks, N.D., Valerie (Seaverson) Engelman of Thief River Falls, and Bonnie (Seaverson) Toulouse of Minneapolis; and many grand nephews and grand nieces. He is also survived by many special friends, the Melvieís and his friends at Valley Home and Oakland Park.

İİİHe was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Alice (Jensen) Seaverson; a nephew, Roger Seaverson; a niece, Terry Langheid; and great-nephew Darren Seaverson.İİİA00003B2004SP01
