Springfield, MO - Jorgen Jelle, 86, died Thursday, March 16, 2000 in Springfield, MO.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 3, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, rural Grygla. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held on hour prior to services. The Green Funeral Home of Thief River Falls is in charge of the arrangements.
Jorgen Jelle was born on November 2, 1913 in Lee township of Beltrami county, the son of John and Thora (Moe) Jelle. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and attended rural school in Lee township.
On November 24, 1937, Jorgen was united in marriage to Kathleen Johaneson in Grygla. The couple lived in several places in Minnesota. In 1997, they moved to Guion, AR, and in 1992, they moved to Springfield, MO.
He enjoyed horseshoes, fishing and working with old furniture.
Jorgen is survived by his wife, Kathleen of Springfield, MO; five daughters, Hope (Edward) Eliason and Virginia Pudwill, both of Springfield, MO; Wanda (Warren) Eckman and Rosalie (Donald) McComb, both of Hibbing, and Valerie Jordan of Eveleth; one son, Daniel (Francine) Jelle of Nashua; 24 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; three sisters, Violet (Ed) Olufson of Thief River Falls, and Esther Sundberg and Grace (Carlyle) Askeland, both of Grygla; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Louis, Elmer, Clarence, Henry and Walter; and one sister, Evelyn Arneson. A00003B2000MR29
