Marie Jeffries, 95

Thief River Falls - Marie Jeffries, 95, died Thursday, December 9, 1999 at Oakland Park Nursing Home in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, December 14 at Green Funeral Home Chapel in Thief River Falls with Rev. Tim Bauer officiating. Ida Nordvall was the organist, and the soloist was LeRoy Aasland. Burial was in Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis.

Marie Vattendahl was born on March 1, 1904 in Lambert township of Red Lake county, the daughter of Ole and Anne (Sigurdson) Vatten-dahl. She was baptized on June 5, 1904 by Rev. J.K. Lerohl at Salem Lutheran Church, rural Oklee and confirmed on September 29, 1918 at Zion Lutheran Church in Oklee by Rev. Stilluf T. Palm. She attended school in Red Lake county.

On September 22, 1925 Marie was united in marriage to Robert E. Jeffries in Detroit, MI where their son, Larry, was born in 1927. The couple moved to Thief River Falls for a short time before moving to Minneapolis where they made their home for over 50 years. Marie worked as a seamstress in the garment industry. Her husband, Robert, died on March 5, 1984, and her son, Larry, died on September 22, 1993. Marie returned to Thief River Falls in 1994.

She was a life member of the Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile. She enjoyed painting and seamstress work.

Marie is survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, son, parents, and several brothers and sisters. A00003B1999DC15
