River Falls - Annie Jasperson, 99, died Saturday, April 29, 2000
at Oakland Park Nursing Home in Thief River Falls.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday, May 3) at Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls. Barbara Swenson will be the organist, and Carmen and Zach Fore will present a duet. Casketbearers will be James Erickson, John Erickson, Earl Swenson, Ray Swenson, Thomas Simpson and Maynard Solberg. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls.
Visitation was held at Green Funeral Home from 3 to 8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service on Tuesday, May 2. Visitation will also be held from 9 a.m. until the time of the service today.
Annie Johanna Omdahl was born on November 28, 1900 in Traill county of North Dakota near Buxton, the daughter of Ole and Annie (Dahl) Omdahl. In 1905, the family moved to Mayfield township in Pennington county where they homesteaded. Annie attended a rural country school and did domestic work in various places.
On January 24, 1918, she was united in marriage to William Jasperson in Thief River Falls. The couple farmed in Mayfield township in Pennington county. Annie worked with her husband on the farm and maintained a garden of vegetables and flowers. William died on November 27, 1968.
In 1987 and 1988, Annie spent winters at Oakland Park Nursing Home and summers at her farm home. In 1989, she moved to Oakland Park Nursing Home where she had since resided.
During her years at Oakland Park, she stayed very busy in the activity room, cutting and sewing rags for the loom. She was also the home's Valentine's Day Queen.
Annie is survived by one son, Russell (Shirley) Jaspersen of Plummer; four daughters, Shirley Jaspersen of Thief River Falls, Vivian Stellhorn of Indianapolis, Ind., Florence "Flossy" Bruggeman of Sauk Centre nd LaVonne (Walter) Norman of Havre, Mont.; 10 grandchildren; two step grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; and a number of great great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; three sons, twins Lawrence and Lester and Lewis Jasperson; three grandchildren, Susan Jasperson, Russell Lewis Jasperson and Duane Jasperson; her parents; three brothers, Art, John and David Omdahl; four sisters, Ruth Koslosky, Mable Roisland, Beatrice Galbraith and Sadie Sorenson; and two sons-in-law, Donovan Bruggeman and Bennie Stellhorn.
