
Alexandria - Clarice Jarvi, 74, died Monday, August 16, 1999 at Bethany Home in Alexandria.
A memorial service was held on August 22 at the United Methodist Church in Thief River falls with Reverend Lloyd Berger officiating. Reid Froiland was the organist, and Karen Gladen was the vocal soloist. Interment was in Two Harbors. Arrangements were with the Anderson Funeral Home of Alexandria.
Clarice Joy Lingren was born on July 20, 1925 in Two Harbors, the daughter of Herbert and Hilma L. Lingren. She grew up in Two Harbors and graduated from high school there. Following high school she was employed as a bookkeeper for Sonju Motors.
On August 23, 1945 Clarice was united in marriage to Roy Jarvi at Two Harbors. The couple moved to Duluth in 1952 and to Thief River Falls in 1956 where Clarice was employed as the store shopper at Woolworths. In 1962 they moved to Alexandria.
Clarice worked as a secretary for West Central Community Action and later for the United Methodist Church. She was also active in the church, serving as a volunteer driver for the elderly attending circle, serving on the new church building committee and singing in the church choir. She entered Bethany Home in February of 1997.
She enjoyed dancing, crafts, music, singing and children, and she especially enjoyed watching her four grandchildren grow up.
Clarice is survived by her husband, Roy of Alexandria; two sons, David and Stephen of Alexandria; one daughter, Susan (Barry) Froiland of Thief River Falls; four grandchildren; one brother, Ray (Joan) Lingren of Cloquet; one sister, Mary Lou (David) Anderson of Proctor; and several nieces and nephews .
