George Jackson, 78

Fosston - George F. Jackson, 78, died Sunday, February 16, 1997 at First Care Hospital in Fosston. Arrangements are with Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Homes of Fosston.

Memorial services will be held Friday, February 21 at the Fosston Methodist Church with Rev. Vinton Beckstrom officiating. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery at a later date.

Honorary casektbearers will be members of the Fosston Lions Club.

George Frank Jackson was born on March 8, 1918 in Inger, the son of Glen and Ethel (Law) Jackson. When he was young they moved to the Ada-Lockhart area. He attended schools at Lockhart, Ada, Maplewood Academy in Hutchinson and the Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis. He was united in marriage on September 6, 1942 to Florence Leeseberg in Henning. After their marriage they lived in the Lengby area before moving to Fosston in 1955. He worked in construction most of his life. He worked for Anderson Construction, was a self employed carpenter and building inspector for the University of Minnesota, Crookston, and Fosston Public Schools. He retired in 1991.

He was a member of the Fosston Methodist Church, the Fosston Lions Club and was treasurer of the club for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, bowling and was an avid reader.

He is survived by wife Florence of Fosston; sons Bruce (Diane) of Bagley, Jay (Rose) of Rosevelt, and Ross (Ann) of Anchorage, AK; daughters Sharon (Lloyd) Wagner of Middle River, Marleen (Darrel) Quick of Shevlin, and Tammy (Curtis) Parkin of Crookston; sister Phyllis (Kermit) Foss of Gentry, AZ; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister Virginia.
