Winger - Lloyd Iverson, 68, died Wednesday, September 23, 1998 at his home in rural Winger following a long illness.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 26, 1998 at 11 a.m. at Faaberg Lutheran Church, rural Fertile. Burial was in the Faaberg Lutheran Cemetery. The Erikson-Vik Funeral Home of Fertile was in charge of the arrangements.
Lloyd Berten Iverson was born on April 6, 1930 in near Fertile, the son of Lars and Bertha (Baglien) Iverson. He was baptized and confirmed at Faaberg Lutheran Church where he was a life-long member. When he was a child, his father died, and his mother married Chris Dalby. Lloyd attended Pleasant View rural school near his home, and following his schooling, he worked on the family farm.
On October 21, 1959 Lloyd was united in marriage to Mary Halvorson at Zion Lutheran Church in Twin Valley. They continued farming with Lloyd's brothers near his home. In 1964, they began milking cows and continued until retiring in 1995. They also raised small grain, hay and roll crops.
Throughout the years, Lloyd enjoyed farm life and carpentry work. He relaxed by driving around looking at crops and sightseeing. He especially appreciated the time he spent with his children and grandchildren.
Lloyd is survived by his wife, Mary of Winger; four sons, Myron (Sonia) Iverson of Thief River Falls, James Iverson of Winger, Dale (Penny) Iverson of Ada and Aldon Iverson of Winger; one daughter, LaVonne (Mike) Merten of Thief River Falls; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Ernest (Barb) Iverson of Winger and Kenneth (Deloris) Dalby of Fertile; one sister, Agnes Bestul of Winger; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Palmer and Carol; two sisters, Amelia and an infant; one nephew; and one niece.
