
Goodridge - Alfred Iverson, 82, died Saturday, October 9, 1999 as the result of a farm accident.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 12 at Ekelund Lutheran Church, rural Goodridge, with Rev. Robert Dahlen officiating. Grace Hammer was the organist, and the soloist was Diane Johnson. All of Alfred's nieces and nephews were the casketbearers. Burial was in Ekelund Cemetery in Highlanding township of Pennington county. The Green Funeral Home of Thief River Falls was in charge of the arrangements.
Alfred James Iverson was born on October 26, 1916 in Star township of Pennington county, the son of Gust and Jennie (Bammerud) Iverson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and attended country school at District 14 Clovernook School.
Alfred was employed in the potato fields in North Dakota, the railroad on the Iron Range, the turkey plant in Thief River Falls and American Crystal Sugar in Crookston. He also sheared sheep, milked cows and farmed his entire life.
On February 9, 1947 he was united in marriage to Clenora Kompen at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. The couple purchased a farm in Star township of Pennington county where they have since farmed and resided.
Alfred was a member of Ekelund Lutheran Church.
He enjoyed working with horses, telling stories and laughing, playing cards and visiting with family and friends. He played several musical instruments, including the banjo and guitar.
Alfred is survived by his wife, Clenora; two sons, Gary of Eagan and Leslie of Goodridge; three sisters, Anna Kriel of Thief River Falls, Geneva Sparby of Bloomington and Ruth (Don) Mosbeck of Red Lake Falls; one brother, Vernon (Clara) Iverson of Goodridge; two sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Glennie Iverson; four brothers-in-law; one nephew; and two nieces.
